Housebuilder secures planning consent for over 300 homes

Hodson Developments has secured planning approval from Ashford Borough Council’s planning committee to begin the first phase of its housing scheme.

Chilmington Green is a new, mixed-use community by Hodson Developments which comprises 5,750 homes to be built over the next 20 years.

The first phase of the scheme will include 346 new homes, subject to minor amendments to the drawings.

As well as the new homes, Chilmington Green will also contain its own high street, a secondary school, four primary schools, a park and extensive areas of green space.

Infrastructure work started on the site in April 2017, including the construction of a new roundabout on the A28 as the main access to the development, work on other access points, new internal roads and land drainage.

Alan Hodson, managing director at Hodson Developments, said it had taken many years of planning to get to this stage and it was delighted to soon be in a position to start building houses.

“It will be great to get on site and start transforming all the plans into reality and we aim to have the first residents moving into the development in winter 2018.

“The new homes will be available for off-plan sales during summer 2018.

"Chilmington Green is going to be a high-quality, major new community for Kent.

“It has its own design code to ensure the quality of the scheme, which will reflect many of the design principles of the successful garden cities, such as tree-lined streets, a spacious layout with high-quality public spaces.

“We are determined that it will be a development that we as developers will be very proud to put our name to."
