Persimmon applies for 624 more homes at 1,500 unit site

Persimmon has applied for permission for a further 624 homes at a site where it is already aiming to deliver 1,500 units.

The housebuilder’s Wessex business is seeking outline planning permission for the additional properties at its Wellington Gate development to the north west of Grove.

Situated on an old airfield, Persimmon is already aiming to deliver 1,500 homes on the site.

Some of these properties - ranging from two to four bedroom homes - are already completed and for sale, with prices starting from £284,995.

Of this development, 35% are being proposed for transfer to a housing association partner to provide affordable housing.

“Persimmon is very proud of the progress we have made at Wellington Gate and are delighted that our presence is bringing infrastructure to the community and opening up the dream of home ownership to so many local people,” said Seb Spiller, deputy managing director at Persimmon Homes Wessex.

“So, we are delighted to have submitted this outline application to bring hundreds of more high-quality, low-cost homes to Wantage and Grove, especially after working closely with the Vale of White Horse District Council and Grove Parish Council to make amendments to the plan.”
