Savills appointed to sale of 20MW solar farm

Savills has been appointed to oversee the sale of a 20MW solar farm being built in Caerphilly, Wales.

Caerphilly County Borough Council has appointed Savills Earth Capital Advisory for the sale of the asset which secured planning permission in May 2024.

This involves 81 acres of land under an option to lease and is expected to connect to the grid in December 2026.

Savills estimates this will have the potential to generate enough power for 6,000 homes a year.

When called by Development Finance Today, Savills said no guide price would be issued for the asset. No reason was given.

Councillor Jamie Pritchard, Caerphilly Councils deputy leader, said: “This is an exciting and innovative initiative, which aims to help deliver our targets to lower carbon emissions and at the same time generate a financial return that can be reinvested into services, which is vital during the current challenges we face.”
