Bellway acquires land to develop over 100 homes

Bellway Homes has acquired more than 12 acres of land to develop a new residential housing scheme off Pocket Nook in Lowton, Wigan.

The development – Pocket Green – is set to feature 119 high-quality, new-build homes, with a mix of three- and four-bedroom units, including both semi-detached and detached homes.

Twenty of the units will be affordable and sold under the local authority equity loan scheme, while a further 10 units will be sold to a housing association for affordable rent.

The scheme will also include a large, green open space in the centre of the development.

Louise Chamberlain, sales director at Bellway Homes, said: “The plans for Pocket Green are superb; it promises to be a stunning residential development.

“Perfectly placed and offering a fantastic range of three- and four-bedroom homes on a spacious site, we are confident Pocket Green will be in huge demand.”

Located in the suburban village of Lowton, just two miles from Leigh, the site is close to the A580, M60 and M6 and within easy access of Wigan, Warrington, Manchester and Liverpool.

Bellway will also provide £752,675 towards local infrastructure.

Groundwork has already begun on the scheme, with a sales launch scheduled for spring.
