Outline planning granted for 1,400-home Bristol development

More than 1,400 new homes are due to be built in south Bristol following the granting of outline planning permission by Bristol City Council’s development control committee.

The mixed-use development at Hengrove Park will include new homes, a public park and investment into local community, business and education facilities.

At least a third of the 1,435 homes will be affordable and include a mixture of homes for social housing and shared ownership.

The original planning application was turned down in February 2019 and has since been revised following a series of consultation events which gave residents and businesses an opportunity to have their say.

“This is a really exciting step towards building one of Bristol’s largest housing developments in decades,” said Marvin Rees, mayor of Bristol.

“It demonstrates our commitment to addressing one of the city’s most pressing and urgent priorities — making sure enough affordable homes are being built.”
