DFT roundtable: What areas of property development finance are most underserved?

Development Finance Today has launched its fifth filmed roundtable session, which discussed the underserved areas of the property development finance market.

The DFT roundtable video can be viewed in full on the DFT Roundtables page.

The event — which took place on 23rd October at Watson Farley & Williams’ offices in London and was chaired by DFT editor Beth Fisher — was supported by Aldermore and Castle Trust.

Two brokers and one developer were also in attendance to give their perspective on which asset classes have the most and least development funding options: Donna Downey, senior commercial manager at Watts Commercial Finance; Edward Clark, adviser at Uplift Finance; and Giulio D’Andrea, marketing director at Green Life Buildings Ltd.

Whether there are enough products for developers wanting longer-term finance and how all parties in the transaction chain can help mitigate the complexities and risks involved in underserved areas, also came under the spotlight.

In addition, Ranjeev Kumar, partner at Watson Farley & Williams, explained how third parties can add value to both developers and lenders in these underserved areas.
