London Belgravia Brokers secures building warranty cover for Barking BTR scheme

London Belgravia Brokers (LBB) has been selected by Shapoorji Palloonji UK to arrange building warranty cover for a 170-unit BTR scheme in Barking, with a total construction value of £22.5m.

This is the first project in the UK market for the international construction company.

Senior broker, Jamie Milne, was appointed to secure the cover for the site and suit the individual circumstances.

The 12-year building warranty insurance will be passed on to the new individual owners of the apartments.

The development project will be led by Daniel Hilu, project director at Shapoorji Pallonji UK, who will work with subcontractors JB Structures, Sada Architecture Ltd and Michael Barclay Partnership LLP.

Construction on the site for the development — which will offer a cinema and an office for healthcare innovation and research consultancy, Care City — is expected to be completed in Q3 2022.

Jack Bristow, commercial director at LBB, said: “We are delighted to have worked with Shapoorji Palloonji Group on this landmark scheme.

“I’m particularly pleased for Jamie, who has again taken on a complex scheme with multiple stakeholders and delivered a warranty solution that considers everyone’s objectives.”

Karen Muldowney, business manager and director at Shapoorji Palloonji, commented: “LBB has been an invaluable partner on this project.

“LBB removed the complexity of the warranty process, which enabled us to focus on the build, budgets and timelines, which would not have been possible without them.”
