The site — which has remained undeveloped since 2008 — was purchased from Commercial Development Projects Ltd by Bellway.

The housebuilder will transform the site into a residential development called the Old Dairy, which will comprise 78 new-build homes.

“We’re delighted to start work on the Old Dairy and look forward to introducing our high-quality homes to purchasers in Hyde, where we are already well known for our canalside development, also on Dukinfield Road, that has been very well received by local homebuyers,” said Hollie Reynolds, sales director at Bellway Homes.

As part of the planning agreement, Bellway will make a series of financial contributions to open green space and education in the local area.
