Luxury retirement living scheme in Edinburgh secures planning permission

Edinburgh Marina Holdings has been granted planning consent by Edinburgh City Council for its luxury waterside retirement living scheme.

The development – known as the Living for Retirement scheme – will form an important element of the forthcoming £500m, 28-hectare Edinburgh Marina redevelopment.

The scheme – which is designed to provide over 55s with the means to living an active, fulfilling retirement – will be a first for Edinburgh and Scotland.

The development will comprise 104 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, with a wide range of amenities specifically tailored for the over 55s.

It will include dedicated guest accommodation, 24-hour concierge service, secure private storage spaces and car parking (all with provision for electric power) available for every apartment.

Residents will have full access to the new Health & Wellness Centre, which includes steam and sauna rooms, a private cinema, bistro lounge, library and a fully equipped laundry room.

Kevin Fawcett, the developer of Living for Retirement, said: “This development will take retirement living to a new level.

“We are delighted that detailed planning permission has been granted for our luxury retirement concept at Edinburgh Marina.

“Living for Retirement will bring a unique new offering to the Edinburgh property market delivering a level of design and service that raises the bar above any retirement living options currently available in the city.”
