The UK property regeneration company Harworth Estates has been given the green light on outline planning consent for a significant development of housing adjoining to Nottinghamshire’s new Gedling Country Park.

Gedling Borough Council has granted unanimous consent for the development of up to 150 residential units which will be situated on 23.5 acres of former colliery land in Lambley.

Outline planning consent was achieved by Harworth’s Strategic Land division, which is headed by Tim Love. Commenting on the development, Tim said: “We’ve enjoyed a huge amount of success working closely with housebuilders and local authorities to achieve planning consents that provide regeneration benefits for local communities.

“This project in Gedling will provide high-quality homes in a beautiful new environment.

The houses will border Gedling Country Park, which will be open to the public this Saturday. The site will also improve access to a 240 acre park, benefitting local people with more open space and wildlife.

“New housing remains in short supply in the UK.  By helping to bring forward land for new homes, we are continuing to support efforts to rebalance the UK economy, while providing great places for people to live,” added Tim.

Harworth agreed a long-term lease with Gedling Borough Council on the former Gedling colliery in 2013, after it had lain dormant for more than 20 years.

The council has invested nearly £1 million to complete the phase one of the development work, which will lead to the park opening to the public.

Harworth has obtained consent for more than 10,000 housing plots and more than 8 million sq ft of employment space across the Midlands and the north of England over the last six years.

DTZ acted for Harworth as planning consultant.
